Carla Jane Kieckhefer

Carla Jane (Shaff) Kieckhefer, 82, of Rockford, passed away suddenly on November 4th, 2021.

Carla was born on April 7, 1939 in Chicago and moved to Rockford in her Junior High years. A 1957 graduate of West High School, Carla attended Northern Illinois University and in 1961 began a 60 year marriage to John (Jack) Kieckhefer. Carla was an active volunteer with Milestone, in the Rockford Junior League, and an election judge. Beginning in 1974 she spent wonderful days golfing with family and friends at The Mauh NahTee See Club. Carla's passion and greatest joy was playing bridge, attaining her Life Master's designation in the mid 1980's. Carla loved travel and was fortunate to go to many wonderful destinations with her husband and dear friends. She also created beautiful cross stitched wall hangings and darling baby bibs for many newborns.

Carla is survived by her loving husband John (Jack), brother Frederick (Chris) Shaff, Sycamore, 3 cherished daughters, Kathy Kieckhefer, Rockford, Karen (Steve) Eckberg, California, Diane (Keith) Kruse, Minnesota, 5 adored grandchildren, Erik (Kate) Eckberg, Sarah (Justin) Ferneau, Anna Eckberg, Dan Eberhardt, John Eberhardt and one very special great granddaughter, Hollis Mackenzie Eckberg. She is preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Irene Shaff, sister Nancy Ozier, and brother Richard Shaff.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 20, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
