Carol Ann King

November 9, 1940 — May 14, 2021

Carol Ann King, 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Ottumwa, IA on November 9, 1940 to Leo and Marvel (Rank) Greiner.

Carol was united in marriage to Terry King in Clear Creek, IA on October 14, 1967. Following marriage, they made their home in Rockford where they raised four children. They are long time members of Holy Family Catholic Church. She worked for 20 years as a Medical Technician for St. Anthony Hospital and after her children were raised worked part time at Craft World, the family business, until she retired.

Carol’s favorite pastime was cooking in her kitchen. She shared her love and generosity with her family and friends through her food. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting cookbooks, word puzzles and quilting.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and special friend. Her devotion to family, kindness, generosity, strength and courage were a true inspiration to all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Terry; her children, Brian King, Brad (Kellie Richardson) King, Brett King and Jason (Jennifer) King; grandchildren, Sophia and Benjamin King; brothers, Dr. Thomas (Pamela) Greiner, Timothy Greiner, Jerome (Cheryl) Greiner and Dr. Rex (Susan) Greiner; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pam Livingston, Florence Pegoraro, Chris Ohman, Lois Leopold and Lori Limberg, Fran Hamm, Janise Kline and Ken and Sally Holmes. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Theodore Greiner; sisters, Mary Ann Greiner and Bonita Lehman and brother, Patrick Greiner.
Special thank you from the family to the staff at Northern Illinois Hospice, OSF St. Anthony Center for Cancer Care and her orthopedic surgeons at Ortho Illinois for their care and compassion.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00AM. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL 61107, with visitation at church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Please follow mask and social distancing rules. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Carol’s name to Milestone, Inc.
