Catherine "Cathy" Ann Kindstrom

Catherine “Cathy” Ann Kindstrom, 70, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022. She was born in Rockford, February 10, 1951, the daughter of Harvie and Rose (Lucido) Rodgers. She married Jerry Kindstrom on July 8, 1972, and had two children, Dawn (Paul Brushaber) Kindstrom and David Kindstrom. Dawn has 2 children, Blake and Kaden that Cathy enjoyed spending time with, and Blake being old enough to help her bake, make crafts, clean the house, etc. which he also enjoyed. Cathy was loved and will be missed by many. She had the ability to talk to anyone and met many people this way. She would sit down on a bench while out shopping and you would have to pry her away from the person she met sitting next to her. There’s a reason one of her many nicknames was Gabby!! For many years she was the “Avon lady calling”, and later worked many years for a temporary employment agency helping people find jobs. Eventually she transitioned into making things, crafting, card making, stamping, essential oils, doing craft and trade shows, etc. She met so many people and made new friends while doing this and the things that she enjoyed. Cathy loved having her group of friends come over to the house and create things together while snacking and socializing. Cathy had a huge heart towards everyone she knew and always wanted to have gatherings to bring people together for any occasion including birthdays, holidays, or her son coming home to visit. She would say “let’s see who all we can get together!” She greatly enjoyed being able to talk and visit with as many people as possible. She will be greatly missed by many, sadly her time here was cut short, but take solace in knowing that she won’t have to suffer anymore. She is with her parents by her side to take care of her now.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford and again from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice, 4751 Harrison Av. Rockford, IL 61108.
