Charles "Chuck" D. Williams

Charles “Chuck” David Williams, 71, of Rockford, passed away on August 13, 2022, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 26, 1950, in Rockford, the second oldest son of Elbert Eugene and Mary Francis (Edwards) Williams. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Lien Nguyen on April 1, 1975, in Vietnam. Chuck worked as an electrical engineer for Collins Aerospace for over 30 years, and previously worked for Woodward, Chrysler, and Cable Vision.

He was an avid golfer and bowler. He made the Hall of Fame for the Rockford Bowling Association and bowled the National tournaments for over 30 years, and even coached his daughters and many local schools in bowling. When he wasn’t bowling, he was a handyman and gardener around the house. As a family, they spent many weekends and summers camping at Jellystone Park of Fort Atkinson. Chuck was a loving and outgoing person, a man of his word, and was supportive of his family and friends. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Chuck is survived by those who love him most, his wife, Lien; daughters, Ellen (Wayne) Lowe, Sue (Robert) Cabello, and Anna (Joshua) Strang; grandchildren, Kallum Lowe, Jazmine (Justin) Lemke – Hieser, Tiana Kuntzelman, Graci and Elli Cabello, Nya, Ethan, Cody, Austin, Spencer, and Sebastian Strang; great grandchildren, Leia and Mia Williams, and Reece Cabello; mother, Mary Francis Williams; siblings, Debbie Hardy, Jerry (Pam) Williams, Richard (Sun) Williams, and Ronnie (Julie) Williams; in-laws, Karen Williams, Kim Williams, Mike Stanley, and Oanh (Don) Smith; special cousin and friend, John (Sue) Pruitt; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Elbert; brothers, Eugene and Terry Williams; and sister, Jeanine Stanley.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, 61108. A celebration of life will follow the visitation, from 4:30 – 7:00 pm, at the Newburg Village Golf Course, 253 Club House Drive, Cherry Valley, 61016.
