Charles D. Reiter, Sr., 83, Rockford, died June 3, 2010 after a brief illness. Born June 30, 1926 in Madison, WI, son of Benjamin Merrill and Luella (Goth) Reiter.nbsp; Attended Notre Dame University for two years and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1948.nbsp; Married Florence Castree on January 24, 1953 in St. Anthony Catholic Church.nbsp; Employed as chief metallurgist with Elconbsp; Industries, retiring in 1991 and he was a past chairman of the American Society of Metals. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was a former member of the Welcoming Committee and membernbsp; of Knights of Columbus. Veteran of the Korean War serving as a lieutenant in the US Navy.nbsp; Chuck had a quick wit with a wonderful sense of humor.nbsp; He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed.



Survivors include his wife, Florence; sons, Charles D. Reiter, Jr. and Mark (Kathleen Ward) Reiter; daughters, Cheryl (Greg) Boeke and Maribeth (Jim) Peterson; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daniel Reiter, Lauren, Brittany and Steven Boeke and Zachary, Sean and Caurie Peterson.nbsp; Also survived by his sisters, Nancy (Gerald) Miller and Holly Inglis; sister-in-law, Marian Bonavia and numerous nieces and nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents.



Mass of Celebration at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Bernie Sehr officiating.nbsp; Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum.nbsp; Visitation from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S.
