Charles H. Ferre Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Charles H. Ferre, 96, a lifelong resident of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born June 21, 1913 in Rockford, the son of Carlo and Leona (Puricelli) Ferre. Charles married Lillian C. Perno on October 12, 1940 in Rockford. Charlie worked as a machinist for Barnes Drill for 50 years until his retirement in 1978. He volunteered at the Lockwood Park Childrens Farm, working with Special Needs Children. Charlie enjoyed woodworking, building beautiful toys and furniture for his family and charitable organizations. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Forest City Woodworkers and the Verdi Club. Charlie was a kind, gentle, giving man that has inspired his entire family through his strong family values, beliefs and faith. Charlie is survived by daughter, Jackie (Walter "Bud" ) Muraski of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Karen Ferre of Arizona; grandchildren, Nick (Kim) Ferre, and Anita (John) Murillo both of Chandler, AZ, Mark (Alison) Muraski of Rockford, Christina (Robert) Kubrak of New Jersey, Matt Muraski of St. Louis, and Michael Muraski of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Augie, Ashley, Danielle, Emily, Abby, Jessica, Nathaniel, and Joshua, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his parents; wife, Lillian; son, Richard; brother, Arthur; and sister, Genevieve. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson St., with Rev. William R. Wentink officiating, followed by entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 A.M. until time of mass at the church.
