Charles T. Brozik

August 26, 1925 — May 31, 2012

Charles Thomas Brozik, 86, of Rockford passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at home. Born in Chicago on August 26, 1925, the son of Joseph and Mary Brozik. In his early years the family moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where Charles grew up, graduated from high school and then entered into the Navy. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years as an electrician on the USS Ahrens and USS Julius A. Raven. He concluded his Navy years as an electricians mate 3 rd class, V6 USNR, Class B at the US Training and Distribution Center, Camp Peary, VA. After his Navy service, Charles worked in Chicago for ten years as an electrician for Western Electric, then 35 years at Teletype Corporation (AT & T), retiring in 1980. After retirement, he worked 5 more years at Zenith Corporation as a computer technician. For the last 16 years, since 1994, Chuck and his wife, Fran have made their home in Rockford. Beside his family and his work, he enjoyed several special interests, like fishing and boating on the Wisconsin Lake where the family had a trailer. He loved the outdoors and loved to travel, especially to visit his brothers and sisters. He loved to be "going" somewhere. In earlier years, having mechanical interests, he enjoyed working on cars. Kindness and generosity, helping his family through difficult times, was a mark of his character. He never met a stranger. Conversation came naturally with anyone, anywhere, so visiting was easy and enjoyable. Chuck and his wife attended Garfield Baptist Church in the south side of Chicago. Then while living in Rockford, he came to enjoy the Senior Mens Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Machesney Park, with Bill Edmond as teacher. It was here at the end of a Sunday morning class, in conversation with another class member, Dwight Zuercher, that Chuck called on Jesus Christ to be his personal Savior. After leaving church that day, he told his wife, Fran, of this faith transaction with Jesus. Then attended Central Christian Church until he could no longer go.Chuck is survived by his wife, Fran; sister, Marge (Ray) Bartolucci; daughter, Debra; son, Robert (Judy) Burgess; daughter, Kasey (Arnie) Berg; grandchildren, Nick, Heather (Jesse), Robert (Angie) and Ricky (Mimi great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mia, Jessie Jr., Payton, Ashland, Ricky and Emily Ann.
