Charles W. Meverden

Charles W. “Chuck” Meverden, 89, of Rockford died on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at River Bluff Nursing Home in Rockford. 

He was born August 26, 1932 in Aniwa, Wisconsin, the son of Grover and Clara (Duffek) Meverden. He graduated from Shawano (Wisconsin) High School, class of 1950. Chuck was a Korean War veteran (Air Force) and married his wife, Alice (Lukowicz) Meverden on January 10, 1955. He was a longtime mail carrier in Rockford, retiring in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice (2007), his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his sons Craig (Paula) of Pittsburgh, PA and Curt (Becky) of White Bear Lake, MN, five grandchildren Abby, Zach, Mitchell, Laura and Luke and seven great-grandchilden.

Chuck was always a big sports fan, and avidly followed his favorite teams (Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs and U of Illinois basketball). He liked fixing things and making furniture and other objects out of wood in his workshop. 

At Charles’ request all services were private. His final resting place is Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Rockford.
