Charlotte C. Char Baxter, 95, Rockford, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 in Rockford Memorial Hospital.nbsp; Born September 24,1917 in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Charles and Christine Janus Sindelar.nbsp; Married Charles R. Bob Baxter on June 14, 1941 in St. Louis.nbsp; He died on January 20, 2008. As a child, she overcame the paralyzing effects of scarlet fever andnbsp; spent 6 months being successfully treated to walk again by the wonderful staffnbsp; of Shriners Hospital. Charoltte lived her life with a sense of fun.nbsp; She was a wonderful and proud wife, mother and grandmother who provided a loving, healthy home for her family. She enjoyednbsp; every stage of her childrens lives and her husband always said she wasnbsp; a tremendous asset to him.nbsp; She loved music, especially Lawrence Welk and singing the old songs, family, friends, nature, trees and birds.nbsp; She also loved living in the country and working in her garden. Charlotte lived a very long and happy life. Her family would like to thank the Prairie View Assisted Living Staff for helping to make it home for the past couple of years.nbsp; They would also like to thank the doctors and staffs of Rockford Health Systems A3 Department, third floor ICU, Dr. Willard Moore and Dr. William Edwards.

Surviving are her children, Linda J. Thomas, Rockford; son Donald C. (Gretchen) Baxter, Roscoe; grandson, Dr. Daniel C. (Beth) Baxter, Hillsdale, MI; greatgrandchildren, Ben, Nick and Abigail Baxter; sisterinlaw, Ella Mae Sindelar, Aurora; four nieces and two nephews.nbsp; Also predeceased by her brother, Ernest C. Sindelar and greatgranddaughter, Olivia.

A celebratory open house of her life will be held in the summer of 2013.nbsp; The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Louis Shriners Hospital, 2001 S.
