Loving Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend

Christopher Vernon Furney, 38 of Rockford, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He died surrounded by the love of his parents, Vernon C. and Cynthia L. Furney. His heart was just not strong enough to keep him with us a little longer. Born July 30, 1969 in Rockford and attended St. James Grade School, Boylan Catholic High School and graduated from Columbia College in Chicago. Christopher spent many years as a fashion photographer. He traveled extensively in New York, Chicago and Europe doing the photography he loved. He recently moved back to Rockford and became active in the downtown development. Christopher owned NEST, a midcentury modern furniture store in downtown Rockford. One of his passions in life was mid-century designs and architecture. He was president of the Haight Village Association and passionate about historical preservation. His creativeness will be missed by many. Those left behind will miss him deeply which include his parents; sister, Nichole (Todd) Furney-Gaines; three beautiful nieces he loved dearly, Emerson, Sutton and McKenna; paternal grandmother, Lorene Furney and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
