Claire T. Field

Claire T. Field, 84, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 in OSF St Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born February 28, 1925 in Beloit, WI; the son of Elmer and Clara Field. He married Nancy Carr in Rockford on February 1, 1957. He worked for Dixon Automatic Tool as a chief inspector for over 30 years. A veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp, stationed in the pacific conflict. Claire served from 1943 until 1945 and was involved in 4 different invasions with the Pacific Fleet. He was member of Spring Creek Congregational Church. He was a Mason for over 40 years and was also very involved as a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife Nancy; children, Dr. Richard Field of Rockford, John Field of Oakland, CA, Barbara (Adrian) Turner of Palo Alto, CA, Jeff (Kathy) Case of Roscoe and Art Case of Beloit; daughter-in-law; Teresa Field; grandchildren; Julia, Maggie and Sarah Field, Max and Hayley Turner; and sister, Edith Hansen of Janesville, WI. Predeceased by his parents, one brother and 3 sisters. Claire, his daughter and granddaughter had a special bond, they were all born on February 28.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00pm Friday January 29, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established by the family. To express condolences online, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
