Clarence A. Linn

Clarence A. Linn, Sr. 83, Rockford resident for the past year, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Alden Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. Born November 9, 1925 in Keosauqua, Iowa, son of Clarence and Mary (Garrett) Linn. Married Phyllis Bennett in The Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa on April 16, 1949. Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Okinawa. He had previously been employed by International Harvester, but spent much of his life overcoming painful physical disabilities. He was an active member of the Alpha, IL. United Methodist Church, having served in many capacities. Also member of the George Norris American Legion Post in New Windsor,IL. Clarence was dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America for over 45 years. He started the Tiger Cubs organization in New Windsor, IL. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Order of the Arrow among many other awards. He always had a special compassion for activities for children and youth and was very involved with his family and all of their interests. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Allena (Paul) Bundschuh, Bettina (Steve) LeBlanc and Clarence (Jill) Linn, Jr.; grandchildren, Daniel, Garrett, Grace, Taya, Clarence III and Monroe and great-grandson Heath. Predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother and his grandson, Caleb Bundschuh. Funeral service at noon on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Pine Grove Church with Clarences son-in-law, Rev. Paul Bundschuh officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
