Daniel Desmond

Daniel Dan Desmond, 74, Pecatonica, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, in Rockford Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 16, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Martin and Orise Desmond.nbsp; He lived most of his life in the Rockford area moving to Pecatonica 6 years ago. Dan was a veteran of the Navy and the Air Force. nbsp;He married Earlynne Morris in Rockford on August 8, 1959.nbsp; Dan worked at Rockford Standard Furniture for many years as a wood worker and finisher. He was a member of the Pecatonica United Methodist Church. Dan was an avid Packers fan.

Survived by the love of his life, his wife for 53 years, Earlynne; his son, John (Susanne) Desmond; his daughter, Pamela (Todd) Hess; his grandchildren, Chadwick (fianca(c) Allison Quast) Desmond, Ryan (fianca(c) Krystalynn Cornellier) Desmond, Morgan Lizzy Hess, Clayton Hess and Tyler Hess; his stepgrandchildren, Benjamin Gritzmaker and Rebecca (Nicholas) Guerra; nbsp;his great granddaughter, Brexa Desmond; his brother, Martin Desmond; his sisters, Sharon Monroe, Marian Bennett, Teresa Irelan and Elaine Holzer; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Jim, John, and George Tom Desmond; his sisters, Evelyn DesJarlis and Ellen Craig.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av with Reverend Amy Poust, pastor of Pecatonica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.nbsp; Visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the funeral home and from 10:00 am until time of service on Thursday.
