Daniel J. Timko

Daniel J. Timko, 75, passed away on August 22, 2020. Born on October 6, 1944; son to Joseph and Esther (Mueller) Timko. Dan graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn, Illinois in 1962 and went on to become an Industrial Arts Teacher at Staunton High School. He married the love of his life, Susan Burtle in Springfield, Illinois on June 11, 1966. He moved to Rockford as a pneumatics and hydraulics instructor for Rock Valley College and retired from Rock Valley after many years of being the Dean of Community Services in 2000. Dan was passionate about education and learning. He was the ultimate handyman; there was nothing he could not build or fix for friends and family. He was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed smallmouth bass and musky fishing in Hayward, Wisconsin. Dan was dedicated to his Catholic faith and a long time parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 54 wonderful years, Susan, his children, Nicole Grendenius and Craig (TC) Timko; his grandchildren, Anders Gredenius, Kelsey Timko and Symon Timko; his sisters, Mary Anne Sestak and Elaine (Tom) Mroczka; numerous nieces, nephews and special mention to Scott Gredenius. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Chris J. Timko; three brothers and one sister.

A funeral service for Dan will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 11:00a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. A visitation will take place at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Bernard Cemetery, Glenarm, IL. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Holy Family Church Food Collection.
