Darrell "Butch" Egler

Darrell D. “Butch” Egler, 75, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 unexpectedly at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born May 17, 1941 the son of Donald Egler Sr. Ardath (Hepfer) Egler-Seidel and graduated from West High School class of 1959. Married his loving wife Vickie Swenson on Sept. 15 1962 in Rockford. Worked for over 42 years at Eagle Foods until his retirement. Butch was a member of The American Legion of Rockford. He was an avid customer at Stumpy’s always trying to hit it big on their machines, loved NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr., yard work, snowmobiling and most of all, he cherished his time with family, especially his grandchildren and new great grandson. His love of life and big heart will be missed dearly by his family and many special friends.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie of Rockford; daughter, Kim (Dave) Foor of Belvidere, son, Steve (Teresa) Egler of Rockford; grandchildren, Shannan (Zak) Johnston, Dana (Shane Mains) Foor; Michael Egler and Katrina Egler; great grandson, Neil Mains; Dog Bubba, sister-in-law, Patti (Kevin) Winger; brother-in-law, Don Busekros and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Ardath Seidel and step-father, Julian Seidel; brother, Donald “Mike” Egler, Jr. and sister, Sandra Sibigtroth.

Funeral service Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. and continues on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
