David A. Thomas

David A. Thomas, 50, of Winnebago, went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2008 in his home surrounded by his family. David was born March 6, 1958 in Moline, IL the son of Louis D. and Eva Louise (Burns) Thomas. David married Barbara J. Burke on June 8, 1991 in Rockford. David began working as a laborer in the mason field at the age of 17. He became a journeyman brick layer and worked for JMI Corporation for the last 20 years. David was a member of BAC Local No.6, an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, enjoyed riding his Harley and especially cherished spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Lance (Lani) Wogomon, Heather (Joe) Dehner, Cody (Erika) Thomas, Cole Thomas, Branden Burke and Shane Thomas; his grandchildren, Hailee Dehner, Lillian Dehner, McKenna Thomas, Jordyn Rose Thomas and Rory Wogomon; his father Louis D. Thomas; his step mother-in-law, Myrtle Burke; his sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn Thomas and Sheila (Tim) Thompson; his sisters-in-law, Marietta (Jim) Lehrmann ""You Never Let Me Down"" , and Amy Nichols; his brothers-in-law, Pat (Jody), Merlin and Allen Burke, and Glen and Ronald Koski; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his mother Eva Louise (Nov. 1, 2007) and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosemary (Barton) and Arthur Burke. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. James Moore, Pastor of Riverside Assembly of God Church, officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 am until time of service.
