David L. Holland

David L Holland, 80, passed away in Rockford, Illinois in August 7, 2022. Born in Elgin, Illinois on October 20, 1941. Son to George and Laura (Flentge) Holland. When David was young, he spent time with his father working in the auto repair business, acquiring knowledge to carry him into his first career. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout, and went on to volunteer with the Kane County police and fire departments for over five years. On May 25,1963, he married the love of his life, Susan Hennessy. He spent upwards of 25 years in the long haul trucking industry before retiring. In his free time David enjoyed a challenging crossword puzzle, solving sudoku, or playing his favorite hand held solitaire game.

He is survived by those who loved him most, his wife Sue of 59 years, his children Tim, Ken (Karen), Dan and Janet (Travis) Irvin; grandchildren Kodey (Liz), Kasey, Austin, and Katey (Austin) Johnson. Great grandchildren Debbie, Teddy, and Will; his siblings Gloria Stading, and Wesley Holland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and especially his beloved dogs Sadie and Hannah. He is predeceased by his siblings Richard, Lavern, Wally, Ronald, Lois Martini and Delores Mattocks.
