David M. Honkamp

David M. Honkamp, 74, of Rockford, passed away July 2, 2019 at Swedish American Hospital. Born June 18, 1945 in Chicago; son of Virgil and Margaret (Koster) Honkamp. He married Jan McHugh on May 4, 1968 in Rockford.
A member of the Cathedral of St. Peter, David was the former President, CEO and part owner of Cellusuede Products Inc., where he was employed for 48 years; President and CEO for 27 years.
A true fan of Notre Dame, David enjoyed golfing with his friends and coaching at the Cathedral of St. Peter. He also enjoyed attending sports events, recitals and all activities that involved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jan Honkamp; sons, Eric (Lisa), Timothy (Stephanie), Andrew (Arianne) and Christopher Honkamp; nephew, John (Alisa) McGuire; grandchildren, Lauren, Alexandra, Joshua, Andrew, Samuel and Emerson Honkamp; great niece and nephew, Ainsley and Kellen McGuire; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Dina Honkamp
Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church Street, Rockford. Visitation 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford. Visitation will continue 9 a.m. until time of service at the church, Monday, July 8, 2019.
