David M. Tompkins

David M. Tompkins, 31, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Columbia Saint Mary's Hospital, after a short illness. Born April 9, 1982, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of R. Michael and Mary (Tiemens) Tompkins. David graduated from Christian Life High School and then went on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Finance from the University of Virginia and worked in private equity banking in New York City, Chicago, Charlottesville and Beverly Hills. He left banking to work for Rexnord in mergers & acquisitions. He married Stephanie Russell on September 8, 2012 in Milwaukee. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and loved fishing the Rock River. He was passionate about politics and economics.

David is survived by his wife Stephanie (Russell) Tompkins; parents Michael and Mary Tompkins; sisters Kristin Staaland, Lisa (Bob) Swank, Dana (Matt) Koyak, and Angie Tompkins; nieces Avery Joy Staaland, Zoe Lynn Swank; nephew Gunnar David Michael Swank; grandmother Hilda Tompkins; cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in the Rockford First Auditorium, 5950 Spring Creek Road, with Pastor Jeremy DeWeerdt officiating.
