David Spicer Marth, 85

David Spicer Marth, 85 of Rockford, Illinois passed away after a courageous battle with Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia, on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Amberwood Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Born July 22, 1929 in Rockford, the son of William & Olive (Spicer) Marth. Graduate of West High School, class of 1947 and Iowa State University, class of 1951. He married Elizabeth Anne Shepherd in Rockford on October 5, 1982. David was co-owner of Dasco-Pro, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, University Club, and Phi Kappa Psi. He was a former member of the Rockford Country Club, past chairman of the United Way, Chairman of the 2nd Rockford Pro/Am, and Chairman of American Hardware Manufacture’s Association. David was an avid golfer; he also enjoyed playing cards and traveling, most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include wife Anne; children Missy (Ben) Castle, Marni (Norman) McGee , Dr. Charles (Carolyn) Marth, and Elizabeth (Anthony) Tarara; grandchildren Andrea, Max, Mac, Sam, Sara Jane, Maggie, Leslie Ann, Eliza, Oliver, Anthony David, and Lilah; great grandchildren Jesse, Sam, and Leia; mother in law Joan Shepherd; sister in law Glennys (Russ) Eaton; close family friends Dorian & Karen Frazier; God Daughters Sara Benson and Rachel Frazier. Predeceased by parents, daughter Mindy Marth, and granddaughter Lisa Marie.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Court Street Methodist Church located at 215 North Court Street Rockford, Illinois 61103 with the Rev. Calvin Culpepper officiating. Private Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to time of service on Monday, February 23, 2015, at Court Street Methodist Church.
