Della "Dell" M. Burns, 87, of Loves Park, loving wife, mother and grandmother went to be with her lord on Thursday, October 13, 2011. Born April 12, 1924, in Rockford; the daughter of Joseph H and Pauline J (Zubas) Pirages. Married William J. Burns on June 12, 1948 in the Cathedral of Saint Peter. In her early years, Della worked for Park State Bank and WF & John Barnes before staying home to raise her children. Della'¢s deep devotion to her Catholic faith was apparent through her commitment to St. Bridget Church and her second family, People of Praise. She will be truly missed by those who loved her and all whose lives she has touched. She taught us to "Walk in love, as Christ loved us" .Survived by sons, William (Frances) Burns, Jr., and Jack (Carmen) Burns, of Rockford, and Daniel (Mary) Burns of Marshalltown, IA.; daughter, Patty (James) Brown of Winnebago; brothers, Joseph (Ollie) Pirages of Waterloo, IA. and William Pirages; grandchildren, Jimmy, Annie, Jenny, Becky, Carrie, William, Shannon, Danny, Alison, Colin, Angela and Robert; 10 beloved greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; husband, William; son, David; daughter, Laurie and sisterinlaw, Pauline Pirages. The family would like to thank the third floor staff at P.A. Peterson for their compassionate care. A Celebration of life at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Bridget Catholic Church 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave., and from 9:00 a.m.Tuesday to time of service at the church.Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
