Denver Hugh Dingus

August 16, 1940 — October 13, 2015

Denver Hugh Dingus, 75, of Rockford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born August 16, 1940 in Hamlin, VA the son of Cyrus Bascom and Gertrude Eliza (Glovier) Dingus. Married his loving wife, Laura Faye Ring on July 1, 1961 in Virginia, they were married for 54 years. Denver joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union 219 on January 1, 1961 and worked for Miller Engineering Company as a superintendent for 47 years until his retirement in 2006. Wanting to keep active he then worked part time for DeKalb Mechanical until he decided to fully retire and take more time for family and friends. His love of God, was foremost in his life and he lived that fully every day. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at New Life Freewill Baptist Church in Machesney Park. Denver enjoyed bowling, yard work, old cars, estate sales, the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and was a former member of Al’s Vagabond, a motorhome club. He was also on the Local 219 Sheet Metal Apprentice Board for 33 years and found joy in seeing the new talent that was coming forward. His love for God, his wit and charm, compassion and kind ways will be missed dearly by everyone that had the chance to know him. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to his family and friends for their support during his illness and a very special thank you to Dr. Altayah at Rockford Memorial Hospital for the great care he gave Denver.
