Donald E. Amenda

Donald Eugene Amenda, 88, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Don was born in Decatur, Illinois on December 30, 1934, the son of Walter F. and Bertha B. (Seman) Amenda. He married his loving wife, Judith Ann Burd on April 22, 1951, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Rockford. Donald was employed as machine repairman for 34 dedicated years with Gunite Foundries Corporation before his retirement.

Surviving relatives include his children, Jerald (Jennifer) Amenda, JoEllen (Dan) O’Neil and Eugene (Ruth) Amenda; grandchildren, Kristine Gentry, Diana Slager, John Amenda, Kathryn Butera, Colin Amenda, and several great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; wife Judy Amenda; daughter Debra Hart Christiansen and siblings Walter Amenda, Barbara Moore, and Catherine Zimmer.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice, including nurses Stacey, Renee, and Valery, for their kindness, care, and compassion.
