Donald "Joe" Grubb

Donald “Joe” Grubb, 58, of Machesney Park, passed away on October 30, 2023. He was born on January 8, 1965, in Sterling, IL, the son of Gordon and Hazel (Behnke) Grubb. He graduated from Boylan High School, class of 1983. He married Sally Richter on September 4, 2010, at the Venetian Club in Rockford. Joe was a volunteer firefighter for the Northwest Fire Department, and a member of the Venetian Club and St. Patrick Catholic Church. As a kid, he enjoyed pheasant and rabbit hunting with his dad. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR. Joe was a man of craft, the ability to build tables and bookshelves, tile work, woodwork, and furniture building. He was a selfless, busy, and proud husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Jenny (Jerry) Mesch, Katie (Mason) Lehrmann, and Mimi (Tyler) Ruff; granddaughter, Thalia Ruff; dogs, Dakota and Minny; stepmom, Linda Grubb; and siblings, Diana Grubb, Denise Grubb, Ann Daly, Mike Daly, and Tim Daly. He is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Hazel; brother, David Grubb; and dogs, Patsy, Daisy, and Zoe.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Swedish American Hospital and everyone who came to visit him in the hospital.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
