Donald L. Ennis

Donald L. Ennis, 72 of Rockford, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born Dec. 15, 1943 in Galesburg to Effie Pauline Ennis and married his loving wife of 49 years, Gladys Osterhaus. Donald spent 35 years working for Rockford Public Schools where he made a difference in the lives of countless students and teachers. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan in a family of Chicago Bears fans, however, he always won that rivalry. Don will be remembered as a good friend and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; sister, Beverly Erxleben; children, Michael (Lori) Ennis, Daniel (Theresa) Ennis and Sandra Schroeder and 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Effie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
