Donald Ott

Donald E Ott, 83 of Machesney Park, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

Donald was born in Beaver Dam, WI on June 1, 1938, son of Orville and Loretta (Wegener) Ott. He was raised on a farm until he was 17. This is where he learned the importance of hard work. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years and received the expert rifle marksmanship and two good conduct medals. Donald was married to Denise M. Dunn on November 4, 1989. Donald owned Don Ott Construction, Inc, a concrete contractor for fifty years with his family. Donald enjoyed fishing with family, traveling with his wife Denise and tending to the many gardens in his yard. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Donald is survived by his wife and best friend, Denise; children Clinton(Amy), Kelly Scarpetta, Stacey Ryan, Ruthanne Schreck, David (Julia) Dunn and Josh (Jennifer) Dunn; grandchildren Brennan, Joseph, Tyler Schreck, Kendra Schreck, Danielle Dunn, and McKinlie Dunn. He is also survived by brothers Larry, Kenneth(MaryLou), and Alonzo(Lynn)Schumann, sisters Carol(Joseph) Hagen, Sandi Kokas, Lorrie (Jerry) Berg, Pam(Norm) Sanders and many nieces and nephews. Donald is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers David Ott and Butch Schumann, sister Donna Ploum and son Walter.

A special thank you to Harlem Roscoe Fire Department, Northern Illinois Hospice, all of the staff at Davita, and Dr. Mijal.

Donations to be made to Harlem Roscoe Fire Protection District and Northern Illinois Hospice.

Cremation rites will be accorded. To honor Donald’s wishes, no public services will be held.
