Dorian L. Fisher

July 21, 1925 — March 28, 2012

Dorian L. Fisher, 86, Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. He was born on July 21, 1925, in Mayfield County; IL, the son of Earl and Thelma (Smith) Fisher. Dorian married his high school sweetheart, Betty Miller, on February 14, 1947. Dorian was a graduate of Rockford East High.nbsp; He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII as a range finder aboard the USS Quincy from 1943 to 1946. He then attended Rockford Business College earning his degree in accounting.nbsp; He was employed by Bird Piston Ring, GC Electronics and most recently as President of Kelley Williamson Oil Company, where he worked for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No.166, Freeport Consistory and Tebala Shrine.nbsp; Dorian was also a member of the VFW, YMCA, National Society of Accountants and the Cosmopolitan Club.nbsp; He was a volunteer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for over 40 years.nbsp; He was also a dedicated Chicago sports fan, an avid fisherman and enjoyed his retirement years with friends and family at his homes in Arizona and Wisconsin.nbsp;

A great family man, Dorian, is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; children, Linda (James) Johansen of Tustin, CA; Dr. Rory (Nadine) Fisher of Iowa City, IA and Ross (Karen) Fisher of Plymouth, MN; sisters, Eloise (Jerry) Loehlien, Joyce (George) Schlupp and Shirley Bombard;nbsp; grandchildren, Pamela Olsen, Kevin Olsen, Aaron Fisher, Aidan Fisher, Carson Fisher, five greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relations.nbsp;nbsp;

Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service.nbsp; Pastor Nord Swanstrom of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorians name may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 3rd Avenue, Rockford, IL 61104 or to donors charity of choice.nbsp;
