Doris M. Galle

Doris M. Galle, 89, Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Doris was born in Chicago on October 29, 1932, the daughter of Ernest and Florence Kathman. She graduated from South Shore High School and went on to complete her secretarial training through Moser Secretarial School. On December 29, 1962, she married Walter J. Galle. He passed away December 14, 2000. She was a legal secretary for many attorneys in Rockford. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Blackhawk Valley Region-SCCA, Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile-Alabet Temple No. 31, PEO Chapter V, and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She was a devout member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild for many years.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Catherine) Novak; her daughters, Marilyn (Kenneth) Tomasek and Karen (James) Falzone; her grandchildren, Christopher (Denise) Tomasek, Anthony Link, Jeffrey Tomasek, Amy Shadden-Schwartz, and Julie (Ian) LaMont; her great-grandchild, Olivia Tomasek; her nephew, Robert (Susan) Friend and her niece, Jean Friend. Predeceased by her parents, her sister, Jeanette Friend and her dear husband, Walter, along with many 4 legged family members. The family would like to thank the staff at Serenity Hospice and Home for their caring help.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 A. M. until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4700 Augustana Dr. Rockford. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jill Flynn officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory,3910 N. Rockton Av.
