Dorothy L. Strohmeyer, 83 of Rockford passed away March 30, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born January 31, 1926 in Rockford, the daughter of Leo and Bertha (Henry) Strohmeyer. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Muldoon High School and later worked as a secretary for many years with Mutual of Omaha. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter and the Rockford Secretaries Association. Dorothy was a very talented seamstress and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed her nieces, nephews and great- nieces and great- nephews. Survivors include her sister Nancy Moorman, nieces and nephews Laura (Matthew) Webb, Catherine (Steven) Schmidt, Michael (Dannette) Moorman, Mark (Julianne) Moorman, 11 great- nieces and great-nephews and special friend Mary Solem. Predeceased by her parents, brothers James and Robert Strohmeyer, and special friends Sr. Mary Killian, B.V.M. and Gwen Kirschbaum. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at River Bluff Nursing Home and Rockford Memorial Hospital for the special care given to Dorothy and her family. Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass Friday in the Cathedral. Interment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter.
