Dorothy Lee Evitt

Dorothy Lee Evitt, age 81, died September 25, 2016 at Alden Debes Health Care Center in Rockford. Born on October 9, 1934 in Rockford, IL to Thomas and Veronica (Gable) Cleary she graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in 1952. She married Joel J. Evitt in Atlanta, GA in 1960. In addition to waitressing at the Knights of Columbus, she enjoyed canvassing for local and national political elections and served as an Election Judge. She loved to laugh and enjoyed the company of family and friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Joel (Cindy) Evitt, Michael Evitt and Robert Evitt; grandchildren, Rachel, Shannon, Brittany, Cassandra, Samantha, Todd, Christopher, Shawn and Robert; great grandchildren Alissa and Andrew; sisters, Kathleen (Tony) Cooperider and Doreen (Robert) Trunelle as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter Debbie Evitt, sisters, Ramona Haggerty and Marylou Griffith, and brothers, Roy, George and Gene Cleary.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday September 29, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 611087 with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Entombment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Winnebago, IL. The family wishes to thank everyone at Alden Debes for the wonderful care and love given to Dorothy over the years as well as OSF Hospice for their compassionate support. Dorothy will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
