Dorothy P. George, 93, of Rockford passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family. Born, the youngest of 10 children, on July 10, 1921, in Mt. Morris, the daughter of Franklin and Minnie (Barber) Nalley. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School, class of 1939. Dorothy enjoyed sitting outside on her porch on nice sunny days, playing Solitaire and doing her word puzzles. She always enjoyed her time with family and friends. Many good stories have been told and shared with others.
The George Family would like to thank many friends and family, including special friends, John and Brenda Oswald and Dorothy's neighbor, Vicki Nyman as well as OSF Hospice and Dorothy's hospice nurse, Michelle, and her Peak Home Caregivers, Debbie, Teresa and Edna. Their kindness and support has meant so much to the family.
Survived by her son, Gary (Deborah) George of Rockford; grandson, Gary (Cindy) George Jr.; nieces, Wilma (Rich) Hoffer of Bend, Oregon and Barbara (David) Wright of Freeport; nephew, Larry (Judy Piros) Nalley; several great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Raymond and nine brothers and sisters.
Memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
