Edeltraud "Trudy" M. Stroyan

Edeltraud “Trudy” M. (Jacobson) Stroyan, 85, of Rockford, passed away on March 21, 2023. She was born June 23, 1937, in Furth/Noernberg, Germany, the daughter of Maria (Goetz) and Georg Weishaupt. She was educated in Germany, going to Business School in Munich and Nursing School in Kaufbeuen. She married Richard Jacobson in 1957 in Germany, as he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. He preceded her in death in December 1993. Trudy came to the U.S. in September 1957 and resided in DeKalb and Sycamore. They enjoyed 3 beautiful daughters, Rose, Julie, and Heidi. Trudy worked for many years at Duplex Products in Sycamore before it closed. She later worked at KCH in DeKalb before retiring in 2006. Trudy Married Eugene “Gene” Stroyan on October 11, 1999, in Lake Tahoe. They resided in Rockford. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and of their knitting and crocheting group. She enjoyed walking in the mall and made many friends. She treasured her family and friends.

Trudy is survived by her husband, Eugene; 2 daughters, Rose (Ken) Johnson of Genoa, and Julie Moulton of Genoa; son-in-law, Barry Buffington of Florida; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 stepchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 1 sister; 1 brother; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who all reside in Germany. She is predeceased by her parents; former husband, Richard; daughter, Heidi Buffington; grandson, Mark Buffington; and son-in-law, Danny Moulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford, IL 61109. A visitation will be on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Due to the distance of the burial, there will be no luncheon served.
