Edith M. Heinkel

Edith M. Heinkel, 84, of Rockford, passed away Tuesday February 6, 2018. She was born January 28, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Helen (Stanislawski) Sierlecki. Edith graduated from Riverside High School, Milwaukee, WI class of 1951. She married the love of her life Richard Heinkel on May 16, 1953. Edith worked most recently as the cook and manager at Bishop Lane Retreat Center. Edith was a devoted and affectionate mother raising eight children. She enjoyed knitting, bingo and most of all being in the presence of her great grandchildren. Edith will be sorely missed and remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Survived by her children, Lynn Heinkel-Moore, Ron (Diane) Heinkel, Kathryn (Jerry) Lynn, Charles (Teresa) Heinkel, Brian Heinkel, Sharon (Ray) King of River Falls, WI, Cheryl (Dave) Dixon; grandchildren, Tina (Mike) Garnhart, Jason and Amanda Moore, Ashley (Robby Apo) Heinkel, Melissa (Pat) Andres, Eric (Heather) King, Abby King, Jacob Dixon, Bryce and Mark Dixon, Kyle, Sydney and Ted Roewer, Joshua and Matthew Heinkel; great grandchildren, Joseph, Samuel, Mikayla, Ethan, Jaxon, Deagan, Madison, Wyatt and excited about one due in March. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Mark; two brothers and 5 sisters. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at OSF Hospice and Park Place of Belvidere
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 and/ or Mayo Clinic, 200 1st St SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
