Edna Mae Podeszwa

Edna M. Podeszwa, 91, Rockford, joined her Lord,on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born September 28, 1921 in Seatonville, Il, daughter of Carl J. and Pearl Burdick Hanson. Graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1939. Married Stanley P. Podeszwa on May 8, 1940, being married to him for 69 years prior to his death on May 19, 2009. She was an active, charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Rebecca Circle, Third Nighter Group and actively participated in their rummages sales and Corn Boils. Many people knew Edna from the 17 a?½ years that she was employed at the North Main McDonald'¢s. She always had candy to share with everyone who walked into her life. The candy bowl accompanied her in the past few years as she moved from her home to Independent Living and medical facilities. Edna chronicled her daily life in journals that she kept her entire adulthood. She was a very positive person who was a loyal friend to everybody. She was a long time member of a 500 club made up of long time friends. She was always cheerful with a happy spirit and a great sense of humor. When you were around Edna you always felt uplifted by her vibrant personality. Survivors include her children, Terry (Laurie) Podeszwa, Cherry Valley, Dave (Luanne) Podeszwa, Greenfield, WI, Randy (Coreen) Podeszwa, Rockford and Sue Murr, Rockford; 14 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren; 1 greatgreatgrandchild; former soninlaw, Steve Murr and faithful friend, Ginny Slocum. Also predeceased by her parents, 2 daughtersinlaw, Joy Podeszwa and Cathi Podeszwa; 3 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Williams and Rev. Thomas Hardwick officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N.
