Elizabeth A. Hoeft

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Hoeft, 88, Rockford, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home Wednesday, June 20, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born April 19, 1924, in Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York, the daughter of Paul and Agnes (Thomasson) Ranalli. Betty married Arden Hoeft on August 19, 1945, in Sag Harbor and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then to Rockford. They retired to Orlando, Florida, where Arden passed away on November 13, 1989, after 44 years of marriage. Betty was an avid Yankees fan, but a diehard Cubs fan. She loved family gatherings, Bingo, Scrabble, Elvis, and handicapping "the ponies" Betty will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Serenity Hospice, and Anam Care caregivers, especially Bernice Marinelli. Survived by her son, Gordon (Beverly) Hoeft of Sacramento, California; daughters, Kathryn (Anthony) Piccirilli of Belvidere and Beverly (Allen) Covington of Ocala, Florida; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; her sister, Rena (John) Hagness of Orlando, Florida; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Ranalli and Elvina (Tom) Wahl; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Arden and her brother, Lloyd. Private family interment in Florida National Cemetery at a later date, where she will be with Arden forevr Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. assisted the family.
