Elizabeth Pan Lord

July 29, 1915 — April 22, 2011

Elizabeth "Pan" Lord, 95, of Rockford died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Wesley Willows. Born in 1915 in Chicago, the daughter of Ralph and Frances Crandall. Graduate of the University of Michigan, receiving her Bachelors Degree. Married her loving husband William Swift Lord, Jr, on January 4, 1941. She worked for Stillman Valley Grade School as the office assistant for 15 years, retiring in 1977. She and Bill then moved to Lakeside, MI where they became active members of the Church of the Mediator; they lived there for 16 years before returning to the area. Memberships in Rockford included Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Northern Illinois Botanical Society, and the Jr. League of Rockford; she volunteered at Klehm Arboretum, Rockford Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady, and for the past 18 years was a resident and volunteer at Wesley Willows. Pan enjoyed crafts, wild flowers, flower gardening and making her special recipe for pickles for events. Survivors include her loving daughter and caregiver, Judith Lord of Rockford; granddaughter, Nancy (Jay) Dworski; her beloved great grandchildren, Karen and Leo, all of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, Donald (Hanna) Lord, of Arlington Heights; sister-in-law, Zo Lord and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999; twin sons, William III and Robert Crandall Lord, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lord; brothers-in-law, Jack & Richard Lord. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful and caring staff at Wesley Willows. Memorial Service Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Willows, 4141 N. Rockton Ave. Inurnment will be held in Stillman Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund, 4141 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103, or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, PO Box 96305 Washington DC 20090-6305.
