Elmer "Bruce" Berg

Elmer “Bruce” Berg, 80, of Brodhead, Wisconsin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was born on December 16, 1941 in McVille, North Dakota, son of Elmer and Bernice (Styve) Berg. He married Sybil McKenzie in 1973, and she preceded him in 1982. Bruce married Louise Rehfeldt in the fall of 1988. He worked as an assembler at Martin Automatic for almost 30 years before retiring. Bruce was a devoted family man with a resolute compassion for his fellow man. Bruce loved working with his horses, attending auctions, and telling stories, but above all he adored and cherished time with his grandchildren. Bruce owned and operated Berg Carriage Rides, he also worked and drove horses for Williams Christmas Tree Farm for many years. Bruce was sober for 48 years, which was a source of humble pride for him.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Louise; sons Patrick (Cindy) Berg and David (Cari) Berg; stepdaughter, Tammy (Rick) Erickson; 5 grandchildren, Megan, Caleb, Jacob, Dawson, and Isabelle; 9 siblings, Gloria (Clayton) Brennan, Sonja (Mike) Donohue, Louise (Gene) Workman, Wallace (Carol) Berg, Juanita (Bob) Gutting, Frayne Berg, Norene (Doug) Reiten, Brian (Barb) Berg, Randy Berg. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sybil; 2 sisters, Eloise and Verdean; 1 brother, Norval. The family would like to give a special thanks to Agrace Hospice, especially Liz.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford 61103.
