Rockford- Elton A. Kopplin, 80, of Rockford went to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in his home. Born November 15, 1935 in Moundville Wisconsin, the son of Arnold and Elsie (Labrenz) Kopplin. He moved to the Rockford area in 1964. Married Marcelle Moore February 7, 1970 in Rockford. She predeceased him on August 13, 2012. He was a mechanic and retired from Borg Warner in 1997 after 33 years with perfect attendance. He enjoyed fishing, trapshooting, steam engines, playing in a country band, stock car racing, small engine repair, playing slots, going to casinos, playing the lottery pick three, but most of all spending time with family.
Survivors include his sons Rick (Debbie), Mark (Sarah), Steven Kopplin; daughter Cheryl Nielsen; stepchildren Pat (Jeff) Herrmann, Sheila Morrison, Jimmy (Eva) Neece and Garry (Karen) Neece. Sisters Ellowyn (Roger) Kershaw, Helen O'Neill, Marge (Gene) Thornton, Jeannie (Ron) Rinaldi, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife Marcelle, parents, three brothers William, Harlan and Harold Kopplin; two sisters Marion Hayes and Rosalie Kopplin.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, NW Location, 4881 Kilburn Ave Rockford IL, 61102.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
