Elva V. DuvallLoving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Elva V. Duvall, 89, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2009 at Wesley Willows. She left us as she lived, surrounded by her family. Elva was born on February 6, 1920 in Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of Ferdinand and Thilda (Bertrand) Casanave. Elva married Willard "Bill" Duvall on May 10, 1947 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. Elva attended Northwestern University where she was active in theater. She loved to travel and had a lifelong love of the piano. Elvas Catholic faith was very important to her and she kept very active in the Catholic Church as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Elva and Bill donated an organ in Elvas name to St. Andrew Catholic Church in Plainfield, IL. Elva was the core of her family. Her most important treasures in life were her husband, family, and God. She was known for her joyful smile and warmth. Elva loved having the family home for the holidays and some of her richest moments in her life were spent with her family. The strong faith which Elva shared with her family has given them assurance of her eternal rest with her Heavenly Father. Elva is survived by her husband Bill; children, Craig (Patricia) Duvall, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Jeannine (James Peless) Duvall, of Everett, WA, James (Shaun) Duvall, of Alma, WI, and Deanna (Michael) Doty, of Belvidere, IL; grandchildren, Mary, Marvin and Rosa Duvall, Ryan (Lisa) Duvall, Matthew and Devin Odorowski, and Mitchell Doty; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Brayden Duvall. Elva was predeceased by her parents, her sister T.J. Westby, and her granddaughter, Colleen Rose Duvall. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. followed by burial in St. Mary/St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. 9:45 a.m. at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund, 4141 N.
