Eric C. Wiltfang

Eric Wiltfang, 24, Rockford, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, in his home. Eric was born in Rockford on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1992, the son of Gerald “Jerry” Wiltfang Jr. and JoAnne M. (Mentzer) Wiltfang.
Eric was a 2010 graduate of Rockford Lutheran High School. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He enjoyed watching and playing basketball, rafting on the Kishwaukee River and was an avid Cubs fan. He loved spending time with his sister playing Pokemon Go. Eric always enjoyed the company of friends and family.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and JoAnne Wiltfang; sister, Stephanie M. (Alex Kuhl) Wiltfang of Rockford; grandmother, Harriet Mentzer, Rockford; Aunts and Uncles, Connie (Dennis) Sammons, Maricopa, AZ, Sheryl (Joseph) Mannone, Rockford, Craig (Marianne) Mentzer, Rockford, Brad (Valerie) Mentzer, Rockford, Deann (Dean) Svela, Steward, IL, David White, Rochelle, Mark (Kelly) White, Rochelle, Jeff White, Rockford; cousins, Christopher (Jennifer) Sammons, Matthew (Katie) Sammons, Melissa (Mike Zimmerman) Sammons, Sarah (Stephen Holgate) Mannone, Paul Mannone, Megan (Jordan) Martin, Hannah (Peter Junor) Mentzer, Matt (Andrea) Svela, Chelsey (Austin) Stolte, and Micah Svela; 17 second cousins; Best friend, Earl Grigsby; Special neighbors “second Mom and Dad” Steve and Debbie Osborne; his “brothers by another mother” Aidan, Colin and Liam Osborne. Predeceased by Grandfather, Ray Mentzer; Great grandparents, Curtis and Marie Wiltfang; Grandmother Edna “Bunny” White and grandfather Gerald Wiltfang.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Rockford. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 South Mulford Rd., Rockford with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
