Eric D. Steiner

Eric Steiner of Winnebago, IL passed away on August 13, 2022, at the age of 32. Eric married the love of his life on September 28, 2019, which remains as the happiest day of his life. Eric was a man of many hobbies that he put his whole heart into. Eric enjoyed spending his time on green fields, either golfing or watching the Packers play on Lambeau Field with his best friend. He was also an avid fisherman, with his wife, no matter what the temperature was. Not only did he love being outdoors, he had a special love of music. He loved everything from musical theatre to Bob Dylan. He would also tell everyone that Lebron is the G.O.A.T.
Eric leaves behind the love of his life; Jodi Steiner (Rappa), parents; Kathleen and Barry Greenberg, grandmother; Mary Steiner, sisters; Hannah Greenberg, and Cacy (Ryan) Stueck/Ostenson, nieces; Elizabeth, Ryley, Tessa, and Juliana, cousins; Carla, Mark, Jeff (Sherri), Greg (Linda), Brent (Anjali), and Brandon (Amber) Tietz, in-laws; John (Ann) Rappa, sister; Andrea (Enrique) Sotelo, nieces and nephews; Adrian, Elena, Luisa, Anthony, and Alexia, best friend; Jose (Haley) Galarza, goddaughter; Luisa C., fur babies; Opal and Olive Steiner, and a plethora of people whose hearts he touched. He is to be reunited with his maternal grandparents; Marie and Ronnie Layng, father; Dennis Steiner, and special aunts and uncle; Patricia and Harold Tietz, and Jayne Stueck. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Swedish American/UW Hospital for their outstanding efforts and thoughtful care. In lieu of flowers, Eric’s family requests donations be made towards his medical bills or sent to Rockford Area Inter Group.
His visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home located on Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, followed by a time to share personal tributes until 7:30 pm. A private burial will take place on Monday, August 22, 2022. The family encourages everyone who wishes to attend to wear green and gold or Packers apparel. Go Pack Go.
