Ernest D. Seaton

ERNEST D."" ERNIE"" SEATON, 80, Rockford, died at 4:15a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Asta Care Center. Born July 27, 1926 in Stephenson County, son of Ernest Henry and Hattie Ives Lowry Seaton. Lived most of his life in Rockford. Married Barbara J. Finkbeiner on May 1, 1948. He was a Deputy Sheriff with the Winnebago County Sheriffs Department for 33 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that he was a car painter for both Strandquist Motors and Humphrey Cadillac and Oldsmobile. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Also member of F.O.P and the Moose Club. Ernie was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved photography. He enjoyed playing the organ and was a wonderful story teller. Survivors include his sons, Dale (Carole) Seaton, Machesney Park, Ernest ""Ernie"" (Diane) Seaton and David (Pam) Seaton both of Rockford; grandchildren, Chad (Melissa) Seaton, Nicki, Kyle, Andrew, Shawn and Shane Seaton; great-grandchildren, Britani and Zachary Seaton. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara on December 25, 2004; sister, Irene Stickler on December 24, 1988; brothers James ""Tommy"" on January 5, 1991, Charlie on February 22, 1995 and Willard ""Bill"" on August 22, 1975. Funeral service at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. William R. Wentink officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation from 6P.M. until 8P.M. Tuesday with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30p.m. Visitation also from 9:00a.m. until time of the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association.
