Eugene C. Taylor

Eugene C. Taylor, 83 Rockford-Eugene C. Taylor, 83 of Rockford died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Wesley Willows. Born April 28, 1924 in Monico, WI, son of Lucius Augustus II and Lillian M. (Flannery) Taylor. He served in the United States Army during WWII and took part in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres. On August 8, 1950 he married his loving wife Mary Priscilla Connor in Auburndale, WI. He began his teaching career in 1949 working for both the Rockford and Harlem School Districts. He retired in 1984 from the Harlem School District as Administrator/Dean of Students. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary; children, Craig (Kari) Taylor, Jean (Michael) Martin, John (Rachel) Taylor, Amy (Anthony) Schelich, Susan (Charles) Blose and Mark (Nicole) Taylor; grandchildren, Bridgett, Katrina, Michael, Rebecca, Jessica, Angela, Kiel, Ian, Andrew, Allison, David, Melissa, Dean and Noah; great-granddaughter, Lucy; sisters, Joyce (Ed) Guensberg, Iris House and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, L. A. II and Lillian Taylor; brothers John and Lucius Augustus Taylor III and sisters, Lillian LaBlonde and Rebecca Meacham. Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Dr. William R. Kerr, Sr, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until time of service on Wednesday.
