Eugene F. Grewe

Eugene F. Grewe, 79 of Rockford died at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at his home. Born to Fredrick and Bertha (Kruse)Grewe on July 27, 1927 in Des Plaines, IL. He married Lois Taylor in 1951. Gene served in the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Illinois with degrees in Business and Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Ekco Alcoa for many years as general manager. In 1969 he formed his own companies, Northmark and Laser Lign, manufacturing high pressure air tanks and lasers for alignment, monitoring and medical surgery. Gene moved to Rockford in 1994 and married Elizabeth Walgren in 1998. Gene was active with Maryville Academy and tutoring of GED students. He was a member of MENSA, SCORE and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Loving father to Jodi (Jack) Sweeney of Madison, WI, Tracey (Michael) Armenakis of Bartlett, IL and Lori (Kevin) Hewitt of St. Charles, IL and loving grandfather to Elizabeth Sweeney, Andrew Hewitt, Paul Armenakis, Christopher Bender and Jonathan Hewitt. Funeral will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, March 17, 2007, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 Bell School Road, Rockford with the Rev. William Ward officiating. Visitation from 10:30 until 11:15 Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
