Evelyn R Podesta

Evelyn R. Podesta, 82, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. She was born in Rockford on September 24, 1935; daughter of James and Rose (Smagen) Porter. Evelyn was a 1954 graduate of Muldoon High School. She was married to Henry A. Case before his passing on November 29, 1978. Evelyn was married again on September 10, 1980 to C. Louis Podesta and spent 27 years together before his passing on October 1, 2007. Evelyn was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she worked as a bookkeeper for several local companies, and worked as a pharmacy tech for Kmart for many years.

Evelyn is survived by her niece, Sandra (Robert) Creagan; nephews, Thomas Hawver, James (Carmen) Hawver, and JoD (Sandra) Kliebe; special friend and caretaker, Robin Berkheimer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husbands; sisters, Jean Bloom Varner, Jeanette Kliebe, and Florence Hawver; niece, Barbara Smiece; and nephew, Fred Kliebe.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL, 61107. Burial will follow immediately to Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 1S510 Winfield Rd., Wheaton, IL, 60189. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Corpus Christi Monastery of the Por Clares, 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL, 61102.
