Fern M. Stockburger

Fern (Marth) Stockburger, 93, of Rockford passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Wesley Willows. Born July 4, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Amolia (Barth) Marth in Savanna. She married Robert F. Stockburger in 1937. Fern was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Sara Circle.

She graduated from Central High in 1936 and married her high school best friend Robert in 1937. She was a funloving person who made friends wherever she went and she enjoyed needlework, friends for lunch and her card club activities. Fern enjoyed trips to the family cabin in the north woods. She was proud to be born on the 4 th ofJuly and she loved celebrating her birthday with a bang. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, sense of humor, love of animals (especially Rembrandt), homemade jelly and letter writing.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Robert (Joan) of Chippewa Falls, WI and Thomas (Joan) of Rockford, grandchildren, Rebecca (Christopher) Durham of Chippewa Falls, WI, Susanne (Bill) Detienne of Victoria, MN, Jeffrey (Kristi) of Eau Claire, WI, Nicole (Shannon) Barstow of Madison, WI and Todd (Kathy) of Rockford; greatgrandchildren, Matthew, Isabella, Nicholas, Zachary and Joshua; best friend, Mary Connors. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Robert Dec. 15, 1993; sisters, Frances Lanquist and Delores Marth; brother, Michael.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Krista Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 until the time of service. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Donations may be made to Empty Stocking Club or Noahs Ark.
