Florence Ann Swanson

Florence Ann Swanson, 80, Rockord, peacefully passed to heaven on Monday February 9, 2009 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center with her husband, Richard, daughter Wendy and her husband Dick by her side.  Florence was born in Rockford on October 22, 1928 to Anthony Stelma and Laura Phillips Stelma Lundine.  Graduated from East High School in 1947 and married Richard R. Swanson on June 26, 1948 in Rockford.  Their daughter Wendy Ann was born on September 20, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA. where Richard was stationed in the US Navy.  Florence loved being a wife and mother and enjoyed working in her yard and reading.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Miriam Circle.   Survivors include her husband, Richard; daughter, Wendy Ann (Dick) Barton; sisters-in-law, Jo Stelma and Gloria Swanson and six nephews.  Predeceased by her parents, infant daughter, Gail Sue; brother, Roger Stelma and Suzy Dog.   Florences family would like to give an extra thanks for the loving care she received from Linda, Nicole, Bee Bee and Tiffany in the CCU Unit at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center as well as the supportive care of Sheri and Amy.   A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Brent Dahlseng, Grace Lutheran Church, officiating.  Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. on Thursday.
