Florence E. Hawn

Florence E. Hawn, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday October 23, 2012 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born September 14, 1923 in Onawa, Iowa; daughter of Harry and Bessie Butcher. She moved to Rockford in 1940 where she met and married Gordon Hawn on They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Gordons passing in 2008. Florence was proud of the work she performed at Barber Coleman, for the war effort. She was a member of the Moose and of SMSF Clubs. Florence was an avid bowler and a malcontented Cubs fan. In retirement she enjoyed countless hours of Yahtzee with Gordy.. Survivors include her children, Carol (Curtis) Spangler of Roscoe and Peggy (Richard) Dach of Loves Park, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one brother, Clarence Butcher. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Gordon and brothers and sisters and infant grandson. A special thank you to her caregiver Troy Roper.Memorial service at 4pm on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N Rockton Avenue, Rockford. Visitation from 2pm until 4pm, Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
