Florence R Sciame

Florence R. Sciame, 92, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born May 16, 1926 in Muskegon, Michigan, daughter of Leon & Anastasia (Eadowski) Nieciag Gluc. Lived in the Rockford are since 1944, coming here from Michigan, Married to Lacy Sciame in Rockford on October 21, 1950. During her career Florence was an RN working at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford Memorial Hospital and Rockford Clinic. She retired in 1986 after thirty seven years. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Additional memberships include St. Anthony’s Alumnae and St. Bernadette’s seniors. She was a past Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and volunteering at Rockford Memorial.
Survivors include husband, Lacy; children, Fran (Randy) Stretz, Susan (Dan) Giesecke, Marilyn (Chris) Hoffie, Vince (Lori) Sciame and Vicky (Tom) Pruitt; 11 grandchildren, Heidi (Scott) Schindelbeck, Peter (Kelly) Stretz and Erica (Chris) Shuleva, Lindsey (Mickey) Berce and Lauren Giesecke, Michael and Joseph Hoffie, Andria (Dain) Mummert and Alison (Anthony) Rios, Ally and A.J. Pruitt; 3 step grandchildren Mackenzie, Delaney, and Elizabeth McMillan; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-laws, Carol Sciame and Evelyn Sciame; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; numerous in-laws and infant granddaughter Savannah Pruitt.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103, with the Rev. Ricardo Hernandez officiating. Visitation 10 am to 10:45 am at church. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Bernadette Church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
