Frank J. Nolan

Frank J. Nolan, Jr., 81, Rockford, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in St. Anne Center. Born December 11, 1926, in Rockford. The son of Frank J., Sr. and Mary E. (Cody) Nolan. Frank married Helen ""Smitty"" Smith in Rockford on September 23, 1950. She predeceased him in Rockford in January of 2005. Frank worked for Illinois Bell Telephone for 38 years retiring in 1981.He was a sergeant in the Army during WWII. He is a member at Cathedral of St. Peter and of the Knights of Columbus. Survived by sons, Patrick F. (Sandra) Nolan of Roscoe and Edward M. (Jo) Nolan of Belvidere; grandsons, Brian P. and Brandon K. Nolan; granddaughter, Amanda R. Nolan; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Helen, parents, and brother, William J. Nolan. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. with Father Kenneth Wasilewski officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2008, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL. 61108 with a Christian Wake Service at 6:45 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Tuesday. Special thanks to the staff of Bickford House.
